The SPHERE project brings together expertise in the Helmholtz Association on plastics, particularly with regard to the challenges of sustainable use of plastic. A policy brief reflecting the perspectives of research, industry, public authorities and (organized) civil society was written through a participatory process. Hermann Heipieper and further scientists from FINEST Microplastics were part of this process, while Hermann is one of the co-authors of the paper.
The paper was presented to members of the German Bundestag at a Parlamentarian Breakfast on June 9th, 2026.
