The research article titled “Future disposal surge – A new quantification approach for predicting waste from external thermal insulation composite systems in Germany” by Rafael Bischof, Rebekka Volk and Frank Schultman has recently been published in the renowned Journal of Industrial Ecology.  Congratulations Rafael!

The article deals with the study to quantify the amount of extended thermal insulation systems being installed in Germany since 1969 with the aim to predict future waste amounts from these. One of the findings is that a quadrupling of the annual waste generation can be expected by 2050. The current ways of disposal will, therefore, not be able to cover this amount, and new recycling routes need to be developed.
